Bio
My favorite saying at CrossFit is, “you had me at hello” which is literally what happened to me.
I have always enjoyed running but never considered myself an athlete, even after running eight and several half marathons. I felt like something was missing.
After years of working out on my own (at least, that is what I thought I was doing), I decided to
give CrossFit a chance. On May 24, 2011 (yes, I remember the exact date), I walked into
CrossFit Snohomish, and the owner said, “Hi, how can I help you?”. At the time, I had no idea
how he and CrossFit would change my life. I can clearly remember my 101 classes – pull-ups with the black band, deadlifting only a PVC pipe, and the fear of having to climb the rope. Two years later, I could complete numerous unbroken pull-ups, deadlift one and a half times my bodyweight, and easily climb the rope (socks are the secret).
My improvements were a direct result of the physical training provided by the CrossFit coaches and the emotional support of the community. I knew the benefits that CrossFit provided me, and I knew it was time to pay back. I wanted to help others who found themselves in the same situation I was in when I started and pursued coaching, completing my Level 1 certification in June 2013.
By 2013, I took the leap from athlete to coach, eager to share my enthusiasm and
knowledge with others. Two years later, I made the bold move to become the owner of
the gym. Owning the gym wasn’t just about the business for me; it was about fostering a
community and helping individuals achieve their fitness and life goals.
However, life has a way of presenting new chapters. Last December marked a
significant moment as my husband retired after 40 years in education. After much
deliberation, we decided to embark on a new adventure in Montana. Though it was a
bittersweet farewell to my beloved gym, I sold it with a heavy heart, knowing that new
opportunities awaited us.
At Big Mountain CrossFit, I found myself surrounded by a community as welcoming and
dedicated as the one I left behind. As I begin this new chapter of my life, I am filled with
excitement and anticipation. I look forward to once again supporting others on their
journey to reaching their goals, just as I have done before.
